The new 3-season hockey arenas, with a seating capacity of 2,300
spectators, has been sized to accommodate commencement exercises and
designed for year-round use. Included in the construction of the arena
are four varsity and visiting locker rooms, a state-of-the-art sound
system, a mezzanine lounge that accommodates up to 140 people,
concession area, fully functioning kitchen, offices, and new training
and equipment rooms.
New Multi-Purpose Indoor Athletic Facility

Construction has begun on a new 120,000-square-foot multi-purpose indoor athletic facility at Berkshire School in Sheffield, Massachusetts. The new $30 million facility, designed by Moser Pilon Nelson Architects of Wethersfield, Connecticut, features two ice arenas with year round ice capability produced by a cutting edge green geoexchange cooling system.
The first rink will seat 600 from a full stadium style gallery for viewing and jogging. A two-sided full press box and a multi-function/reception suite with a fireplace overlooking the rink are also featured.
The second rink will seat 150 on a two-sided gallery for hockey. This air conditioned rink will transform into an All-School Function Theater (with boards removed) seating up to 1,500 for fall and spring orientation, Prize Night, graduation, etc.. In the summer the facility will house the Berkshire Choral Festival. Both arenas will be daylighted with daylight harvesting technology.
Additional facilities include eight team locker rooms and eight visiting team rooms to accommodate large tournaments (these team rooms will also serve fall and spring sports). Other support facilities include athletic offices; reception area; conference suite; a 4,000-square-foot / 40-station fitness center / team stretching area; and a 2,500-square-foot / 20-station training center with treatment, taping, rehabilitation, wet tub area, offices, as well as a central equipment room and laundry.
The facility is schedule to open early in 2008
