New Adult Care Facility at the State Veterans’ Home

Moser Pilon Nelson was selected to program, design and construct a new 90,000 SF, 125-bed adult care facility and plan for future expansion to 225 beds.

Common spaces within the unit includes spacious light filled lounges with views to the Connecticut River Valley. Central dining rooms are designed to provide a restaurant like atmosphere with fireplaces and cathedral ceilings. The upper level entry is defined by the circulation mall accessing support facilities for the residents which include hairdressing, canteen, library, recreation facilities and a chapel.

The residential facility will provide a variety of levels of care including chronic disease and long term care. The stated goal of the facility is to provide a home-like atmosphere which will encourage social interaction between the residents and become a place of chosen destination for Connecticut veterans and their spouses.

Construction started in 2006 with completion in 2008.
